We commonly associate romance on Valentine's Day with sexy lingerie. Why is lingerie so popular, or at least so popularized?

About 5% of men and 30% of women have a responsive desire pattern. These folks generally don't feel in the mood for sex spontaneously. They have to seek out sexual stimuli and get to the stage of arousal before they start to feel a pull towards sexual activity. Shopping for, and putting on something silky and sexy is a great way to spark your own feelings of desire.
